MDMA Passes a Big Test for PTSD Treatment

A new study shows that MDMA, known as Ecstasy or Molly, can bring relief when paired with talk therapy to those with severe post-traumatic stress disorder.

In today's edition of The New York Times newspaper on page A12, the world-renowned publication reveals research results from the first Phase 3 clinical trial of MDMA-assisted therapy for posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

"In an important step toward medical approval, MDMA . . . was shown to bring relief to those suffering from severe post-traumatic stress disorder when paired with talk therapy," says The New York Times.

"Two months after treatment, 67 percent of participants in the MDMA group no longer qualified for a diagnosis of PTSD, compared with 32 percent in the placebo group."
